Matlock and Matlock Bath are towns in Derbyshire which is a part of a beautiful Peak District National Park, on the main road A6.
Matlock Bath was built as a dead-end road along of the River Derwent. In 17th century a warm springs were discovered and a bath house was build. Later, in 19th century, it was developed as a spa town in order to attract tourists coming to visit Peak District and it was visited by lots of famous personalities such as Lord Byron, John Ruskin or Princess Victoria of Kent.
Matlock and Matlock Bath are surrounded by hills and river Derwent runs through the valley. This makes it difficult to develop new houses, especially in Matlock Bath. Majority of the buildings are built on one side of the valley and on the other side is an old steam rail track and viewing points from the Heights of Abraham.
